East End School Library Procedures and Rules
- East End students check out books two books once a week on their assigned Book Exchange day. Pre-K and Kindergarten students check out one book on their library day.
- Students need not wait until their assigned library day to check out new books. Students may return old books and select new ones on any day of the school week (if Ms. Longley is available).
- Students must return all library materials in order to get out new materials.
- Please remind your child to pack up library books on his/her Book Exchange day or the night before.

- To find your child's book exchange day, see the Library Schedule. As you will see, some children have Library and Book Exchange on the same day while others have them on different days. Kindergarten classes check out books during their Library period.
- Library materials are shared and enjoyed by all East Enders, so please treat them with respect.

- Books and magazines should not be written in, cut, or torn and should be kept in a clean, safe place – away from food, small children, and pets.
- Lost or severely damaged books must be paid for before students can borrow new books.
Tumble Book Library
Tumble Book Library is a fun animated online book site, is available to all East Enders. These books read aloud to you while you read along. Give it a try!
Epic Books
Epic Books is another wonderful online way to find and listen to books. They have E-books, audiobooks, and lots of videos. Use the Library code -- rej6757 -- or your teacher's code. You can use it every week day until 4PM.
World Book Kids
World Book Kids is an online encyclopedia written expressly for young readers. Students can use it to find information written on their for subjects they are interested in or writing a report on! The username for World Book is nphs34, and the password is canucks. After you have signed in once, you should not need to do it again.
World Book Online
The information you need for your report is just a click away. To use the World Book online encyclopedia which includes World Book Kids and World Book Student, click on the World Book link and then enter the following username and password:

Somerset County Library
The Somerset County Library has e-books, fun virtual events, and other resources that you can take advantage of from home. Please follow these links to find out all about the many resources they provide:
- E-Books : These are books you can read online on any device using an app called Abby.
- Virtual Events at the Library: Find live storytimes, crafts, science experiments, author visits and more exciting events taking place virtually at the library! You do not need to register in advance for most of these events.
- More Resources: Here's a list of the Library resources that are great for kids (and parents) grades preK - 5.
- SLSC Library Card: To check out an E-book or to use many of the library's resources, you will need a library card. If you don't already have one, you can apply for one online.

An interactive, online magazine for preschool and early elementary students developed to enhance the award winning Click print magazine. The site includes monthly themes, booklists, games, and printable projects to complete offline.

This site, prepared by WETA public television, presents strategies, activities, and lessons designed to help young children learn to read.
- Guys Read.
Author Jon Scieszka makes suggestions for a literacy program that connects boys with books they want to read.
- Readergirlz
Perhaps the hippest site for chatting about books around, including discussions in MySpace with authors and your friends. A monthly newsletter features a different author, recommended books, even music to read by.
- Inkless Tales
An entertaining and educational sampling of stories, crafts, games, and poetry for young children. Attractive and easy to navigate, this site also includes children's book reviews and other "cool links" for kids.

- Mrs. P
Kids can listen in as Mrs. P (played by Kathy Kinney) reads aloud classic children's stories. The site also contains interactive games and activities. Requires a high-speed Internet connection.
- The Story Home
A site that provides original and classic children’s audio stories for free. Find classic, originals, podcasts, featured authors, holiday stories, animal stories, storytelling tips and more on this fun filled site
- Speakaboos
Listen to online children’s stories such as Arthur, Curious George and other classic stories. Foreign language stories and multicultural stories are forthcoming. A feature to record your own story is available. Story guides and worksheets are included for teachers to use. Parents can download guides and resources for them to use with their children.
- Storyline
Enjoy a selection of stories read online by members of the Screen Actors Guild. Files are available for Windows Media, Real Player or Quicktime formats.
